Northwood High School Project

Project Background

IUSD initiated a climate exploration program, and Northwood High School was selected as the program’s inaugural participant. Northwood High School is currently devising multiple high school student internship programs. The project development primarily aims to engage high school students in understanding climate change and, based on this understanding, create internship programs to promote participation in climate change adaptation and resilience activities

The purpose of this project is to develop a good collaborative model of CACTUS among Water UCI (Director: Dr. David L. Feldman), UCI Informatics and Computer Science (hereafter, ICS) department (Dr. Sharad Mehrotra), and Northwood High School (Nelly Tsai & Nicole Midani). In particular, the focal point of this project is, by collaboratively designing and validating resilience practices equipped with technologies, implementing collective actions to an improvement of water efficiency (i.e., urban sustainability) associated with landscaping and irrigation systems in local communities based on a shared understanding of the UCI ICS’s software program (please see the Appendix) serving public value
